| IMAGEmate is a suite
of software components that controls the capture, indexing
and transfer of scanned images from the scanning
station to the Image Server.
IMAGEmate Access
IMAGEmate access software serves as a
bridge between the existing application and IMAGEview
(Image display ) application. Once the unique identifiers
and image manipulation keys are defined for the existing
application, a link is established between IMAGEview software
and existing application. The user working on the existing
database application can initiate the imaging functions
such as scanning and indexing, retrieval and viewing,
and printing of the scanned documents. IMAGEmate
access software provides the following advantages:
Seamless Integration/Greater Control: Using IMAGEmate
access software, document imaging is seamlessly integrated
with the existing application. The integration does not
require any modification in the existing application and
is completely transparent to the user. Since no external
database is provided, the organization has complete control
over the database application and it can be modified and
enhanced without in any way affecting the imaging application.
Ease of Use: A minimum learning curve is involved since the
integration is transparent to the users. The users perform
the search and retrieval functions in their existing applications
and have to learn one designated key to retrieve and view
the images associated with the records.
Error Reduction/Cost Effectiveness: The error involved in
re-entering the indices for imaging is completely eliminated.
Without the need of hiring additional personnel and the minimal
amount of training involved, the cost justification is immediately
evident.
IMAGEmate Scanning Software
IMAGEmate scanning software is used to
provide document capture capabilities. IMAGEmate
scanning software is a network based scanning software.
Features include:
Scanner Support: IMAGEmate readily integrates
with various scanners including high speed scanners, double
sided scanners, color scanners, microfilm scanners, microfiche
scanners, etc.
Scanner Control: IMAGEmate provides capabilities
to enhance scanned images. The intensity can be changed
to a lighter or darker image as required. Depending upon
the type of scanners, IMAGEmate allows
dithering and dynamic thresholding to enhance the appearance
of the image.
Multiple Scanner Support: Multiple scanning stations can
be added to provide document input. IMAGE-X software provides
the capability to add these stations without requiring upgrades
to Image Server Software. Adding additional scanning stations
does not impede the network performance since the images are
transferred to storage devices during off peak hours.
IMAGEmate Transfer Software
IMAGEmate scanning software scans the
documents to local scanning station magnetic disk. To transfer
images from magnetic disk to optical storage device IMAGEmate
transfer program is run. After the transfer the images are
stored on the central storage device and can be retrieved
by all authorized users on the network. IMAGEmate transfer
software provides:
Reduced Network Traffic: IMAGEmate transfer
program is configured to transfer large number of scanned
images during off-peak hours. The process can even be run
un-attended to transfer images to the image server overnight
or during lunch hours.
History Log: IMAGEmate transfer program
provides a log of transferred images and any error that occurred
during transfer (e.g. the transfer program can detect and
skip a document that already exists on the Image Server and
report it in the log). |
